The annual family picnic sponsored by the Stella Parent Partnership will be held on Friday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m.  Please turn your forms in by Thursday, September 15.  This is a great way to meet new families and get reacquainted with old friends.  We hope everyone can join us.

Ballet classes with Mrs. Feder (Grades MFK-3) will begin on Wednesday, September 14.  Students should be prepared with the appropriate Ballet attire.  Please see your Parent/Student Handbook for details.

Look for information about our SCRIP fundraiser in next week’s newsletter.

The Lewiston Kiwanis Peach Festival will be held on Saturday, September 10.  Once again, Stella students, faculty and families will participate with a float.  We will be looking for volunteers to help decorate on Saturday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m.  (one hour before the parade begins).  Please call Joe Pillittere at Ext. 438 if you are interested in participating.

The recent tragic event of Hurricane Katrina has no doubt touched all of us in one way or another.  The devastation and loss of life is sobering and our first instinct is to reach out and assist in any way possible.  Bishop Edward Kmiec has asked all parishes to conduct special collections.  This is a teachable moment for all families and I would invite you to decide as a family how you might contribute to this effort.  The Sisters of St. Francis will be contributing through Catholic Charities.  Rather than duplicate or place additional burdens on families we will not coordinate any fundraising through the school.  Of course, we will incorporate this event in our teaching and most especially in our prayers and worship.
